Frequently Asked Questions
Have more questions? Drop us a line!
How much do you charge? Price is determined by a number of factors, including type and location of your event, day of the week (weekdays are cheaper!) special setup, and equipment required. Click here for wedding packages.
Will you meet with us in person? Yes! We offer a free, no obligation consultation to see if we click, and if our service is right for your needs. After that, you may call or e-mail and schedule as many meetings as you need to feel comfortable with the arrangements (usually 2 meetings is sufficient). You may also call or e-mail any questions or requests. Your needs and desires for your event are paramount, so there’s no such thing as contacting us too many times.
If you are out-of-town, we can easily take care of plans over the phone or via e-mail as needed. Consults and meetings via Skype can be arranged as well!
Do you have references? Yes!! You are welcome and encouraged to contact our references page below.
We are often asked to recommend other wedding and party professionals. If you need any assistance finding photographers, musicians, caterers, flowers, decorations, bartenders – just ask! We’re happy to give free referrals to our colleagues with whom we’ve had the pleasure of working.
What kind of music do you play? Every event is different, as it is tailored to your likes and requests. Our music library has music to please a broad range of ages and musical preferences. If you have a theme or want to set a particular mood, we can accommodate that as well.
At a typical wedding reception, low volume, upbeat music is played during dinner. These selections are without lyrics, so you and your guests are able to converse easily without distraction.
As dinner winds down the mood is shifted to ease the crowd into light after-dinner dancing. As the party progresses, the volume is increased gradually.
Do you take requests? YES ! Your guests are encouraged to make song requests. If we have it, if it is appropriate for the event, and it is not on the “Do Not Play” list, it will be worked in. You are also welcome to provide any special music or ethnic selections that you and your guests will enjoy.
What if I don't want certain songs or style of music to be played? Not a problem. It's just as important to consider the "do not play" songs in addition to the must plays.
Do you have a music list? Thanks to technology, we have so much music at our fingertips. Rest assured, I've got all the current hits, and get just about anything! There are lists of "most requested" and top hits available here on the Music tab.
What do you require for set up? Requirements: 1. One 6 foot table is all! I have black table covering available, but if you wish the table to match your décor exactly, you can arrange for that from your rental company. Most hotels and banquet facilities automatically have this available for the DJ. 2. The table should be within 25 feet of a standard electrical outlet 3. The DJ area should be adjacent to the intended dance space.
Do you take breaks? No! Continuous music is provided throughout the event, only stopping as needed for your announcements or special activities.
What will you wear? Proper attire to suit the event. For example, dress pants and blouse for weddings, corporate events and holiday parties; or casual attire (not jeans) for outdoor parties and picnics, unless otherwise stated.
Do you require a meal? It is not required to order a meal for your DJ, but it is always appreciated. Typically for a 5-hour reception we put in over 10-12 hours of work on the day of your event.
If you invite me to enjoy a buffet, I will wait until all your guests have been served first.
What if we wish to have other entertainment at our event? I work well with other entertainment professionals. You may wish to have live musicians begin your cocktail or dinner hour, and follow with dance music. Can provide breaks for bands, and provide sound for live vocalists.
Should we tip our DJ? Gratuities are not required, but are always deeply appreciated!
Can you provide music for our wedding ceremony, too? Absolutely! We can determine your music needs for your ceremony together. Having a beach ceremony? No problem! I've got a professional sound system that runs on battery power. Runs an mps player, cordless mic, lapel mic, and inputs for musicians, too! (Additional fees apply)
